Information for South Island Agricultural Field Days Exhibitors

March 26-28 2025, Kirwee

The main aim of the South Island Agricultural Field Days (SIAFD) is to give farmers and others in the rural sector the opportunity to see the latest in agricultural machinery and services that are available on the market, particularly home grown products. The Field Days is the only agricultural show in New Zealand to feature side-by-side demonstrations, with 80 - 100 tractors, headers, mowers, seed drills and other machines being put through their paces each day.

Health & Safety Information and Documents

Health and safety onsite for all exhibitors, public and volunteers is paramount to a successful and enjoyable event. As per 2021, we will require each exhibitor and supplier to complete our health and safety form to outline their undertakings onsite, hazards and H&S systems and procedures.

You will also need to ensure ALL staff attending the South Island Agricultural Field Days site for packing in and/or packing out complete the online induction [details coming soon].

Below is a list of the SIAFD health & safety documentation you may need for your own planning purposes. Please return the SIAFD Health & Safety agreement and associated documents by 5pm Friday, 3 March 2023.

Failure to do so will prohibit you from setting up your site. Forms to be returned to info@siafd.co.nz

Please supply all relevant health and safety documentation, you do not need a copy of every document if not applicable to your activities at this event. If you have a low risk profile with your activities, we still need the form completed and to view your risk register and required licensing. Hazards and hazardous substances need to be communicated with relevant documentation. If we need further information, we will ask for this.

If you are working with a supplier/contractor for setting up or packing down your site that is not part of our preferred suppliers list, please ensure you have them complete this form and supply relevant documentation.

Please ensure you have a copy of all relevant procedures and documentation on your site during pack in, pack out and the event.

If you require a health and safety plan or need help please contact Amanda at OHS on 0800 582 535 or admin@ohsconsultants.co.nz.

Best Site Award

A prize valued at $500 for the best large site and small site will be awarded by the SIAFD committee.

These awards are made to encourage exhibitors to erect stands that achieve the aims of the Field Days, i.e. the effective promotion and sale of machinery, services and/or other products.

The winning sites will be those that attract a large number of genuine enquiries, are active stands with demonstrations likely to attract attention, and are tidy and staffed efficiently.

Note about the SIAFD event

The South Island Agricultural Field Days has been gazetted as an industrial exhibition under section 9 (2) of the Patents Act 2013 and section 10(2) of the Designs Act 1953.

Exhibitors may display their new inventions or designs for the first time at Field days without invalidating a future New Zealand patent or registered design application, provided that the application is filed within 6 months of the opening day of the show.  This is also provided the invention or design has not been publicised or marketed in any other way, and no commercial sale or use is made of the invention before the filing of the patent or registered design application.

Some overseas jurisdictions do not recognise the gazetting of industrial exhibitions, and if overseas protection is of interest to an exhibitor, we suggest filing a patent or registered design application before displaying their invention at Field Days.
