Top tips for award-winning entries

  • Make sure you answer each of the questions. Tell us what is innovative about your project Is it a first in your organization, sector or market as a whole? Be clear about how it has impacted farm businesses. How has this initiative made things better and why is it effective?
  • Make your abstract as strong as possible
  • Focus on real results, achievements and benefits – give us numbers, statistics, percentages or ratios to highlight your success.
  • Use clear, concise writing.
  • Do not use marketing-speak and spin.
  • Do include up to three pieces of supplementary information to support your entry.


  • Have you submitted a separate entry for each project entered?
  • Is your abstract no more than 300 words?
  • Have you labeled all supplementary information appropriately?
  • Have you marked sensitive information in your supporting documentation as confidential?
  • Have you included the contact details of the appropriate person in the event that your smart solution is short listed?

All entries will be evaluated using the following criteria:
  • Originality of innovation
  • Impact of innovation – scale of impact, type of impact (social, economic, ease of use, etc.)
  • Practicality of innovation
